Denza’s Inaugural Cambodia Showroom Launches with Successful D9 MPV Delivery
On July 14, Denza, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand under BYD, celebrated the grand opening of its pioneering showroom in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This milestone marks the brand’s official debut in the Southeast Asian market, showcasing BYD’s commitment to expanding its global presence in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.
The Denza Harmony City Mall Showroom, strategically situated in the heart of Cambodia’s capital, spans almost 600 square meters, offering a comprehensive service experience that includes a state-of-the-art vehicle display area, a VIP lounge, and a dedicated new car delivery section.
Coinciding with the showroom’s inauguration, Denza successfully delivered its first D9 MPV to a local customer, signifying the start of a new era for sustainable mobility in Cambodia. Ye Chenghui, Regional Director of BYD’s Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, highlighted the significance of this event during the opening ceremony, emphasizing BYD’s strategic growth in the global NEV industry.
Originally founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, Denza underwent a rebranding in 2022, with BYD increasing its share to 90%. The D9, the flagship model of the revitalized Denza brand, leads the way alongside the N-series SUVs—the N7 and N8—demonstrating the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
BYD’s entry into Cambodia dates back to 2020, when the company established its first passenger car sales center in Phnom Penh, introducing a range of NEV models to the Cambodian market. The Atto 3, known domestically in China as the BYD Yuan Plus, was launched in Cambodia in August 2022, further solidifying BYD’s presence in the region.
Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Hun Manet, revealed on July 16 that BYD has plans to construct an EV assembly plant within the country. The facility is anticipated to have an annual production capacity of 20,000 vehicles, catering to both the domestic market and international exports.
