BYD’s Luxury Brand Yangwang to Start Deliveries of U9 Electric Supercar in Late August
Yangwang, the luxury brand of BYD, will commence deliveries of its U9 electric supercar in late August. The announcement follows the launch of the supercar in February.
In a statement released on July 27, Yangwang confirmed that the U9 is now in the production scheduling phase and that deliveries will begin next month. The statement emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of production, product testing, quality control, and service optimization to deliver the U9 in the shortest possible time and in the best possible condition to customers.
Order holders can already check their vehicle’s estimated arrival time at stores through the Yangwang mobile app. In the event of any delays, Yangwang will compensate owners with 2,000 virtual credit points per day. Customers who placed a deposit to order the U9 on or before July 31 will receive a free paint protection film.
BYD officially launched the Yangwang brand on January 5, 2023, targeting the ultra-luxury car market. The brand debuted the U8 off-road SUV and the U9 at the same time. The Yangwang U8 went on sale on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 ($151,340), and deliveries began on November 24, 2023.
The Yangwang U9, an all-electric supercar, went on sale on February 25, 2023, at a starting price of RMB 1.68 million ($231,560). The 2-seater battery electric vehicle (BEV) is powered by four electric motors, each with a peak power of 240 kW, for a total peak power of 960 kW. The U9 delivers up to 1,306 Ps horsepower and 1,680 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.36 seconds.
According to data compiled by CnEVPost, Yangwang delivered 418 vehicles in June, a decrease of 31.25 percent from 608 vehicles in May. Since deliveries began in November 2023, Yangwang has delivered a cumulative total of 7,501 vehicles.
